January 23 - May 1, 2011
Here's an Overview of our Acting company's Tour OfferingsTo Book, email us here: tour@richmondshakespeare.com In 50 words... Bursting onto the stage with vibrancy and laughter, Richmond Shakespeare is dedicated to the performance of the written word brought to life. Audiences are astonished at the clarity of our text, the innovative nature of our original practices performances, and the ease of bringing a tour show anywhere in Central Virginia, across the nation or around the world. And in a bit more detail... Touring performances are designed for all ages, but we have a special focus on youth. It's vital to us that the arts continue to reach young people; what better way than by bringing Shakespeare performances and workshops to them in their own environment? Touring productions are designed to be compact (small cast, minimal and innovative sets/costumes/props), dynamic and engaging, specifically to let the word and the action create maximum impact. The other side of the equation is the audience: Proximity to and interaction with the audience are key components of the Richmond Shakespeare experience. Actors and audience play together to create the production. In our audience surveys, feedback has confirmed our thoughts; performances receive accolades from adults and children alike. Given the minimal production needs, Richmond Shakespeare is affordable---and can play just about anywhere! The company has toured theatres, performing arts centers, schools, churches, state parks, office buildings, boardrooms, exhibition halls, and much more. Richmond Shakespeare even has a series of performances designed for birthdays, living rooms, and wedding rehearsal dinners!! ---the only limit is your imagination. Plays are offered year-round. (Performances of Shakespeare's plays usually run 90-100 minutes with no intermission; other pieces vary, usually between 30-60 minutes)
